It would help to know what attachment you are using.  Also some liquids do not respond well to higher voltages even if you have a high resistance attachment.  I used to find some of the lighter tobacco flavours would taste harsh and burnt if you used it over 4 volts even using the standard 3 ohm clearomizer which should be able to vape at the higher voltages.  My first suggestion would be to vape at around 3.7 to 3.8 volts to really bed the clearomizer in.  After that its basically experimenting with liquids to find the correct voltage.

Thanks for the reply. It is a torpedo chrome clearomizer. I am using a 70/20/10 ag/vg/gold standard mix. No nicotine and I'm vaping under 4 to break it in but still get a little burn.

What's the best way to prime these?

There is no real way to prime them as theoretically the wick gets saturated when you fill them and it reaches to the bottom of the clearomiser.  However you could try a few unpowered draws to start things off.

For my Torpedo Chrome Clearomizer I either turn it upside down every few vapes for the top of the wicks to get a drenching, but I find lifting the top off slightly (not sure if works on all of them) allows more fluid to enter.

I do warn you though be careful if you lift the top part out, firstly make sure the O ring is still in the plastic and is secure, if not using you can push it back down to prevent leaks... I had it in my pocket whilst cycling, just after filling it, the whole top came out! So be wary! :p

Or just use something other than the clearo.  I can't get them to wick well enough for me, and all of mine leak.

+1

The clearo that came with my Torpedo works fine mechanically, but always tasted "hot" (not burnt, but a very harsh delivery), even on lower voltages.  Oddly enough, it performs best on an old school fixed voltage Tornado battery.  Go figure.  It's okay with me, I prefer my beastly 6ml DCT on the Torp anyway!  Lightsabre FTW! ;D

Maybe I'm vaping too quick, and the wicking can't keep up with me.  I haven't used my clearos in a few weeks, so maybe I should give them another shot.
