Why would i need a booster?
« on: October 05, 2011, 02:38:25 PM »
So I've recently purchased a few cartomisers and use them on my tornado battery's, I'm finding the vapour and throat hit fantastic from this set up. I have a few spare battery's and also carry a spare cart with me in case the other runs out. But I'm wondering why anyone would need a booster with this setup? surely the hit from this is enough for anyone or am i missing another factor?

Hello Splush and welcome to the forum  :)
Why does anyone need a booster?

I get plenty of satisfaction from my current kit too, let's see how long I can resist temptation  ;)
Can't see a need for it myself.... ::)

Well for one thing a booster will give you the ability to crank up the voltage a bit on an under performing atty.  Once an atty has lost its performance increasing the voltage will allow you to use it a while longer.  Without the booster you do not have that option so you would bin the atty.

Also, at least for me, I find that the tanks and cartos will mute the flavor of the liquid.  So I always start out at about 4 volts just to pick up the flavor.

But bottom line.  If your happy with your setup then you really don't need one.

Hi splush and welcome to the forum.

As Horsemen has said the booster does give you the ability to crank up the voltage on an underperforming atomiser.

I love my new TW Booster,  sure glad i never threw out my five weak titan tank atomisers as they now have a new lease of life  ;)

Hi Splush, Weclome to the forum:

I'd say:

1) Improved vape (agree about the 4V sweet spot).
2) As above helps breath life into old attys.
3) Short circuit protection ( especially useful with smokymisers).
4) The voltage regulation means the performance reamains fairly constant untill the battery has lost a lot of charge.
5) Makes you feel like a big man.

I'm on day three of using mine and I've gotta say I'm thouroughly enjoying the booster.

Cheers,

Ed

I am in the category of boys & toys.
I have no need a booster as I am happy with what I use but will probably / definitely end up with one, hopefully I will get a pleasant surprise and wonder how I ever did without it.

LOL, well I don't know that one really needs a booster if one is happy w/o it.  BUT....... :D   All the reasons given so far are spot-on, so I'll just add one more.  When you adjust the voltage on the booster, what you're really doing is varying the power to the coil.  And that varies the heat the coil produces.  And that totally alters your vape.  Just 0.1V can make a noticeable difference in the flavor, throat hit, and vapor production..... in short, every aspect of your vape can be controlled.  With the booster (or any VV device, really) you can "dial in" your vape, or "find your sweet-spot" if you will.  e.g - I don't care that much for throat hit, but I'm a flavor hound, so I can dial the voltage down a bit, which usually increases flavor, but reduces throat hit and vapor.  It's a balancing act between what I consider to be the holy trinity of vape (throat hit, flavor, and vapor production).  If you've ever experienced vaping the exact same batch of juice in a Tank, a clearo, a D/C carto, and a Smoky (or some combination thereof), you already know how much different your juice can taste with just a switch in one component of your kit.  I even notice a big difference in taste between the 3 Tanks (standard, Mega, and L/R).  VV vaping allows you to alter, sometimes drastically, the flavor of your juice w/o changing any other aspect of your kit.  It's the bomb. ::) :D

I think the bottom line is if you can afford it, it is a worth while addition to your kit. What I have seen, and experienced myself is after the initial WOW factor of vaping, you will come across times when things seem to go a little flat, you need just a little more of something.. what that something is, is difficult to pinpoint, but many here experience it from time to time, sometimes it manifests itself as flavour desertion or no throat hit or poor vapour production or a combination of all these things.

Over the last 3 years vaping has come a long way, initially there was little choice in kit, there was one type of atomiser, very few flavours, what there was available was expensive, and costly if you did not like the flavour or strength you were kind of stuck.

Now having all the choice of different atomisers, flavours and also the ability to alter the voltage means you should never need to be stuck in a rut, all these things give your taste buds a brilliant work out and help to keep vaping a fantastic pleasure ;D

Just my tuppenceworth, lol
Happy Vaping!!!  Jeff

Mine doesnt work on my Screwdriver  :'(

It should work on the SD. Normally the SD is not battery polarity sensitive, in other words the SD works whether the battery is in upside down or not, but with the booster the battery needs to be in the SD with the positive terminal connecting to the spring in the top half of the SD body.

If it still does not work then I suspect it is the SD to Tornado adapter that is at fault :(

I've got one, I'm not using it at the moment, as I've just swapped to a new atty, and it's stronger than most I've had before.
I've just lost an atty that was under performing and got another 3 days out of it, using the booster, whereas normally, I'd bin it. I just tried the booster on this atty, and now I can't see because of the fog!!!

With the tank system, i find i need the booster to get the throat hit i want without sucking on the thing for 6 seconds.  This actually makes a 2 second hit pretty strong.   With the smokeys, i don't need it but it's a nice modulator.  Will actually knock your socks off and if you smoke an analog later and ask yourself why am i wasting my time with this thing?

My main reason for the booster is Tanks. Better flavor and vapor. I have been very pleased with it.
