Anyone tried the K3 DC RCS?
« on: May 30, 2013, 06:17:38 AM »
Would love some reviews of the K3 RCS DC?

Who is using it and how do they find it?
Does it differ from the K1?

Has it become a favorite?. Is it better than classics like the Mini Nova? (a workhorse for me)

Thanking you in advance,

Lesock

Hi lesock,

My first post and first purchase from TW K3 DC RCS arrived today, I bought it to replace my  bcc which continues to gurgle and leak quite badly, The K3 looks good but, I had a couple of problems, 1st was the removable tip, it was welded on to the body took quite a bi of effort to remove it, lots of creaking i really thought it was going to break, stuck it into some very, very hot water and it finally moved, filled it with 80/20 juice gurgles, leaks spitting up the tip into my mouth, I then put it onto my other battery dropped the volts to about 3.5ish gurgles have reduced to almost nothing but still leaks through the bottom into battery so, i then filled with 100% vg juice (no other mixes left in my collection at the moment) now all is ok, still at 3.5v lots and lots of vapor, to be expected with 100% vg, no gurgles or leaks it does get bloody hot so may leak as this will thin the juice down early days yet and not tried with my usual 50/50 or 60/40 mixes yet. I think TW need to check QC as the tips seem to be stuck firmly on the body, also once removed feels really gritty when you put it back on and off.

EDIT:

Seems to be leaking slightly from around the tip where it joins the body when it's laid on it's side, going to strip it down and give it a good clean, maybe that gritty stuff is stuck around the 'O' ring,

First day of using the k3 today. Great flavour and throat hit from a standard tornado battery but seems to be using up a lot of juice. Anybody else getting through twice as much juice as usual?

Two coils, twice the vaping surface, so yes they will vaporise liquid at a faster pace;)
Happy Vaping!!!  Jeff

Jut like the Nova for me. It gobbles up liquid like there's no tomorrow. I think it's a top coil thing. ???

I do everything with my iPhone. Odyssey all day baby ;D

I was rather shocked to hear of people vaping 10ml plus in a day now i know why lol. I was using 2ml in a mega dc carto, which has gone up to 4-5ml in the k3. What is the tornado mini rcs like regarding juice?

Tornado mini RCS very thirsty as well. I think it's a wick thing. Infact I found Tornado Mini RCS to be the thirstiest of all.

I have a K3 now and it lasts longer than my Tornado Mini RCS and it's a good taste. The only anoying feature of the K3 is if you take the coil out it's difficult to get back in as you cant unscrew the sides and have to try and poke the wicks down the side which can be fiddly. However, I have not had any trouble with the screw cap or flooding. I gave up on the Tornado mini RCS as it was messy to top up fluid, not really helpful for out and about.

I'm now happy with my Ego C Tank (1.8ohm), Mini Nova (With tornado Mini RCS mouthpiece) and the K3 (i prefer it to the K1)

Well, I got a K3 about 3 weeks ago and needed to change the coil after a week. Now, I;m not a beginner and I don't think I'm stupid (I may be) but I just can't get those wicks past the head and into the tube.
Why does this product come with absolutely no instructions? Yes, anyone who's worked a tank before could figure it out but any newbie wouldn't have a clue what to do.
I think the least TW could do is give an online guide with the product, or include a leaflet with the product...it's not rocket science ffs!

Not including clear instructions about how to use their products is not going to help in their "Call to action" campaign

And sort the web-site TW...it's hopelessly slow and mixed up. A mess.

I've ranted, sorry

Hiya BuckThunderThrust, I haven't had a K3, but I have a feeling they may work on the same
basis as the V3's.
Could you try unscrewing the tank at the bottom, where it connects with the battery base? Try gently
unscrewing the tank from the base. Of course you will need to empty the liquid out first.
Then that should leave the coil exposed and ready to unscrew.

As I said I haven't had one of these, so check to see if there are threads at the bottom of the
plastic tank first. If there are, then this would be the way to go.

Hope this helps.

Just edited to add: I'm looking at the pic on the site, and really can't tell if the bottom part of
the tank is threaded or not, so if it won;t unscrew then don't force it. If it had to be done via the
top of the tank, is there any way you could get some tweezers in to help?

Been using these for a couple of weeks now and have to say I'm pretty impressed
Had one with a tip that wouldn't move but I just dipped it in hot water and it came straight off (cheers punchy)
I have found if you go much above 4v the coils dont last long (the price of power ???)
As for changing coils once it's screwed in I use the needle from a mixing syringe to nudge them into place (tweezers or a cocktail stick will do the job too)
Yes it uses more juice than a single coil but its well worth it ;D
Also there on yoyo at the mo.....nudges bank manager ::)
Edit: the bottom doesn't come off just the tip

hey cap
not sure if this is the same prob but its worth a mention
last night was using k3 happily vaping  away....this morning nothing, tried it on another bat and it worked fine
tried other k3 on dodgy bat with no problems at all. after trying both on 6 different bats one worked on all the other only worked on 4 of the 6
figured it must be something to do with the k3 so stripped it down and found the thread where the coil assembly screws into the tank was full of gunk
gave it a good clean out with a cotton bud, cleaned the threads on the coil with a tissue reassembled, filled and everything is fine again
strange it only happened on 2 bats though

anyway hope this helps bud

I have to agree about the muted flavour.  Using 18MG cherry cigar in one of my larger RCS tanks gives a good strong flavour that just is not there with the K3.  However vapour production is very good.  The throat hit is not particularly strong either.

My favourite RCS and have tried a few, yes it using more juice but not surprised by this, only problem is they do seem to crack due to the heat, dab od super glue stops the leaking but wont be long before even I cant bodge it back together.

I'm on my 2nd K3 now. I agree the vapour and throat hit is impressive but there does seem to be a design weakness where the plastic tube joins to the battery fitting. My first K3 cracked very badly around the base and began to leak very badly. TW were good enough to replace it once I'd supplied photos of the cracks but the second one they sent to me is beginning to crack at a couple of points after just a month of use.  I don't give my kit a hard time. As I work from home it's sat on my desk for most of the time and doesn't get knocked around. I love the vaping from this device but it does seem to have major issues with reliability.
