In search of best menthol tobacco recipe
« on: July 23, 2010, 08:02:19 AM »
Here's what I am working with:

Plat Ice PEG-400
VG
PG
DV Menthol concentrate
TW American Red Tobacco Concentrate

I have made MANY attempts at making a good tobacco menthol recipe, but each fails miserably.  I have tried different ratios of concentrates as well as dilution combos of PG/VG.  For some reason, it seems a bit sweet, and tastes just odd.

Does anyone have any recipes they would share so I can stop wasting product with foul mixes?

Thanks,
Andrew

I personally like the combo of American Red Tobacco + DV menthol for a menthol tobacco.  Personally I don't mind the touch of sweetness that VG brings to the table, but if your trying to avoid it, I would drop the VG from your mix altogether, as that is where your sweetness is more than likely coming from.

Typically I go about 20% menthol to tobacco.  (Aka 2 drops menthol to 10 American Red Tobacco), and i find that mix works well for me.

More detail, I have a premix of American Red Tobacco 36 MG, and a PI-PG.  I'll mix up a 36 MG menthol (15%~ concentrate mix.....I like it a little strong, I also use my AG dilutent, but you could sub with PG to remove sweetness).  Once I have it mixed, I'll take 10 drops of American Red Tobacco to 2 drops menthol ratio, and mix those together, and thats my mix for it.  I don't have any experience with PEG-400 yet, so not too sure what that is bring to the table in terms of sweetness, but from what I've read it shouldn't be much.

Now if I were working with the American Red Tobacco concentrate, I would also stick to pg to limit sweetness, and still use the method above.

If you try it out, let me know how it works out. :)
