JUICE LEAKING FROM BATTERY BUTTON!!
« on: August 06, 2011, 09:42:43 PM »
Ok, I know the mega tanks (and most models) have an issue leaking from the cart... BUT, mine is leaking from the battery button!! It drives me crazy, I've been vaping with TW for the last 2 years, and recently bought a pack of analogs just because this leaking @#$% is driving me crazy!! For the longest time I thought it was leaking from the bottom of the atty, but recently I noticed that it was leaking right out of the hole that the button sits in. I have no Idea how to clean / drain this. I really don't want to take my battery apart, but I'm sure that it's soaked inside! Any help would be great, I'm a college student and can't afford to buy new batteries every month, PLEASE HELP! :-) thanx n adv.!

Only thing I can think of is the seal around the center post of the battery connector is damaged.  This is the only place where juice could get into the battery other than around the button and could only happen if the battery connector is not properly sealed (either from being damaged or manufacturing error).  If it's still under warranty, I'd contact TW about it

I agree Eric. There is no other way in but the post seal. Contact TW Righ away if it's under warranty still. Either way check the seal, it's white and sits around the post, if it's cracked or damaged that's the problem for sure.

That would be strange considering that this is at least the 6th battery this has happened to. It seems like every thing is good for about a month, then this starts happening. I Think what's happening is that it's leaking out of my atty and into the button hole, but not to mention every time I change batteries the inside of the battery (the threaded part) is always soaked too! No matter how much I clean it with q-tips, shake, wipe, and blow, 5 minutes later it's leaking like crazy! I spend more time wiping my e-cig and my hands off then I do vaping! This is a big problem for me considering that I love to vape, and now not even wanting to deal with the problems it gives me. If this only happened to 1 or 2 batteries I could see your point, but both batteries I have right now are doing it, and so did the last 2, and the 2 before that.

I've heard so much about the SD and it sounds like you need one of those more reliable easy to clean low maintenance pv's. Give it a look.  ;)

I had an SD before, and no offense because I know it's suppose to be the best, but I had burnt looking batteries, and it was the worst overall vaping experience I've ever had overall. Although, the great people at TW totally hooked it up, they took it back and let me change it out for a tornado (right when the came out) so I was really happy. I love the tank style, and I went for the SD Tank, but the guys at the Vape lounge told me that the mega tank was better, and they didn't keep those in stock at the store, I would have had to gone to the warehouse. So I got the mega tank and I love it (when it works right) I'm losing more juice in my batteries and on my hands and clothes than I'm actually getting to vape! It's just REALLY frustrating. I love TW and would love to maybe work for them one day after college. They've always been great to me. All I want is a product that works like it's suppose to without any leaks! lol. If the Mega Tank didn't leak a drop, I really do think it would be the cutting edge, best of the best e-ni. I really hope that SOMEONE has not only had this same problem and knows what I'm talking about, but knows how to fix it as well.

Also, I asked the guys at the vape lounge about maintenance and they said, don't do anything! It will be just fine. So for the 1st month I didn't do anything. and now I'm dealing with leaking batteries. Is there anything that I SHOULD be doing?

I understand that you have been vaping for 2 years (using products from TW).  what device are you using? I have only used 901 (auto), 510 (Tornado and Passthrough ... both manual) and the Wicked Stick... Although the W-S doesn't "do it" for me all the time, the rest of TW's products have been quite reliable.. I have been a TW customer since 2008 and have never had (or heard of) an issue with leaking through any switch... Have heard of some issues with Tornado Batts or SD switches (and the occasional W-S not working right), but never the leaking that you re tlaking about.  sounds like some massive seals are rupturing... or you are not using genuine "Joye" type products with your TW gear.  what kind of juice are you using... I know that loos juice can cause massive leakage... you need to give us more to go with than "My battery is leakiung at the switch" (para-phrased... not actual quote)

Sounds to me like your leak is the problem, not where you see liquid finally coming out.  Once you suck half a tank through your air holes your entire battery connection section will be soaked (assuming your rest position is battery end down, mouth piece up) and it is really impossible to tell the origin(nor does it matter).

I'm guessing you suck too hard for the device. My fix method:
-Clean everything out then vape for a half minute with as much suction as you can. Then point the mouthpiece towards the floor and check the air channels on the side of the tank for liquid (I'm assuming you will have a lot).
-Repeat, but use as little suction as you possibly can this time while still being able to exhale vapor.

If after the second test you had no liquid in the side channels of the tank, and you find your normal vaping is closer to the first test than the second... try to find a happy middle ground of inhalation force where you still get a satisfying vape but without drawing the liquid through. Works for me... ~90-95% of the time.

I agree with DeaDPool, I believe you are taking draws too hard and too quickly, you are drawing more liquid than the atomiser can vaporize, it is flooding the reservoir inside the tank and then leaking into the battery, when the battery connection is full it leaks down the side of the battery and into the switch, not out of it.

1. You need to take slow light draws of around 3 to 5 seconds, also pre-heat the atomiser by pressing the power button about half a second before taking a draw.

2. If you have not already done so, remove the tank from the atomiser, and unscrew the atomiser from the battery and with a paper towel in the tank end, blow out the atomiser from the battery connection end, and keep blowing until the excess liquid is soaked up by the paper towel. replace a full tank in the atomiser and screw the atomiser to the battery, take a couple of unpowered draws to prime the atomiser and then carry on from step 1. If you start to get leaks, repeat step 2.

Good luck ;D
Happy Vaping!!!  Jeff
