HDPE plastic bottles for storing PG ?

(1/4) > >>

Fad:
Are HDPE (high-density polyethylene) plastic bottles safe for storing Propylene Glycol ?

they`re used for food so I would have guessed so, but just wanted to check in case there could be some weird chemical goings-on with them over time for long term storage.

I suppose a relevant question would be are there any materials that should be completely avoided for storage.

Edit:  I must need glasses as I have just noticed on the existing PG bottle it says HDPE on the bottom of it - which I certainly didn`t see before.

lol Fad, you just answered your own question.... you know thats nearly as bad as talking to yourself! 8Ball might have something to say about this! It means he's not the only crazy slightly mad person anymore!  ;D

Fad:
It`s come to something hasn`t it when you end up talking to yourself on a forum.  ::)

I would have just deleted the original question, but I couldn`t - but there might still be some merit in the question if anything comes to light regarding materials we really shouldn`t use, that isn`t obvious at first.

I had already bought the bottles to use, and just wanted to be sure before they arrive - I`ve got the VG pre-mixed up in a 1.5 litre vodka bottle at the moment, and it`s driving me insane every time I look at it..

not that I usually have 1.5 litre vodka bottles hanging around to use I might add, but that`s all I had at the time to mix it in - so needed extra manageable sized bottles both for that and the PG.

I reckon you could put glycerin in anything, but it did just cross my mind that PG may be different.   :-\

Just the normal 1 litre ones hanging around eh!?  ;) :-X :-X lol

And yes an answer to that question would be good, what's not safe to store your liquids in?

Fad:
It was quite fortunate actually as there was still a bit of vodka left in it - enough to thin the VG down and have a quick drink as well !  :D

What I found unfortunate was it was easier to obtain vodka than it was deionised/distilled water to dilute it with....although I did try.
