I'm new at mixing too, but a few things I learned (I had read, but thought was crap, later learned...these folks know what they are talking about...lol):
Are you counting drops or using a device such as a syringe to measure? If you are counting drops, make sure that each liquid you are dropping is in the same kind of container, cause the drop sizes are different. (I decided to forgo the drop counted method, and got a few syringes from the pharmacy to use) My first mix (I used the calculator) and counted drops. It was supposed to be 5 ml, ended up being less than 1/2 that...needless to say tasted bad. After I got the syringe, mixed using the measurements, and turned out much better.
