Mouth ulcer/bleeding gums
« on: April 26, 2013, 07:40:49 AM »
Im a new user to e cig and already a big fan of tornado ego C slim.
been using tropical tobacco red label pre mixed liquid from the start (only 5 weeks ago) but noticed gums bleed after brushing and roof of mouth a little sore (possible ulcer).
I read that mouth sensitivity can increase after stopping smoking tobacco but wanted to hear from others to put my mind at rest.
I am only a light user...0.6% nicotine...5 or 6 times per day.
any experiences anyone??

Hi Impressed, welcome to the forum ;D

It is possible you have a little sensitivity to PG which might be the cause of the soreness to the roof of the mouth, which brand of liquid are you using? (it seems you are using Patriot Range at 0.6mg).

Bleeding gums are commonplace for many that stop using tobacco, it is an indication that the proper blood supply in the gums is returning to normal and bleeding should reduce in time however, if it does not then it is best to consult a dentist for further advice.
Happy Vaping!!!  Jeff

hi impressed (and you jeff!)...

apparently when you give up the cigs there is less carbon dioxide in your blood which in turn makes it thinner, so gum issues, bleeding noses etc are common when giving up.  when my ma told the doctor she had moved to vaping he lowered the dosage of her meds that thin her blood, cause of this effect of stopping smoking......
myself i got slight nose bleeds for a week, my missus quite a noticable flow (!) for maybe 2 weeks........

 ;) :)

disappears in a puff of vapour......

I been vaping nearly 80 days and in that time I've had 3 ulcers! They are the first ulcers I've had in over 10 years! Really painful ones aswell (by painful i mean like more pain than giving birth). :-X

:P Politicians and diapers have one thing in common. They should both be changed regularly, and for the same reason. :P

Heard that bleeding gums is a common nicotine withdrawal syndrome. Pay close attention to what your body is telling you and don't hesitate to call your doctor if at all concerned.

Edited: Smoking cessation drugs should only be advised by a doctor.

One of the little known benefits of smoking actual tobacco is that because of all the chemicals in it, it tends to decimate bacteria in the mouth. When you switch to E-cigs (or quit in general) you'll find yourself suffering from things like ulcers more often...at least until your bodies immune system manages to get back upto speed.

Normally doesn't take too long though. I'll take an ulcer every so often over terminal lung cancer. ;)

Update...
I spoke with dentist and he confirmed that bleeding gums is common after quitting smoking and ulcer has almost gone.
In my case I was inhaling around 7 smallish cigarillos a day which were slightly flavoured with vanilla.
These we knocking the hell out of my mouth and lungs so very glad they have now gone!
Actually I have a packet in my bag since I quit which Ive never been able to do when trying to quit before.

The taste was remarkably like Tropical Tobacco Red label from TW.
I know that TW dont promote e cigs as a quitting aid but in my case I have reduced from 18mg to 6mg in less than 1 month.
next step will be Zero Nicotine.
Kind of want to keep using the ecig just to continue seeing the faces of Jo Public when you start vaping in public.
Dont ya just love those folks who start the pretend cough as soon as they see 'smoke' within 50 yards!!
