DCT flavour change
« on: August 21, 2012, 09:57:46 AM »
Hi all just wondering about changing juice in a dct tank.
Is it as simple as when it runs out fill it up with a diff flavour or another way?
As there will still be juice in the cartermiser?
Will you just get mixed flavors for a bit?

I would personally recommend changing your cartomiser completely with the DCT's if you want to use another flavour. You will never quite get rid of the previous flavour.

The problem is the DCT cartomisers don't take too kindly to being cleaned out as you would with a Tornado Tank atomiser for example. Given how relatively inexpensive they are it really isn't worth the aggro trying.   ;)

I'm running a carto per flavour but I have switched from Titan tobacco to Titan American red with no issues. With similar flavours you should be ok just filling up the tank.

For those random obscure flavours using a fresh carto is probably for the best.  ;)

p.s.

I once topped up a menthol tank cart with cola, that was gross.  :-[

Minty cola, that sounds almost as bad as the cola giants themselves making that horrid lemon tainted cola drink!

When adding a new flavor i always take the cartomizer out and put it in a pill bottle for later boiling (boiling cartos after every 1 full tank through them drastically increases their lifespan i've found, it's not recommended by TW and the manufacturer but i've had no problems at all, should be able to find out more info about boiling cartomizers other places on the forums but if you want i can post it here). Then i take the top off the DCT and fill up a small bowl of warm water with a bit of dish detergent and submerge the drip tip, top and the body with the bottom still attatched to the dct and give them a nice little rubdown, filling it up and holding the soapy water inside it with my fingers as i give it a shake as well. Rinse off in cold water till no soap remains and it's nearly as good as new, a bit of old flavor might stil be detectable by smelling but i've never had it come through in a vape. Fill up a new carto with a new flavor then lubricate the inside of the top and bottom with a bit of juice and slide it in, fill it up and its good to go.

I have found that you are better off buying a Tornado eGo-C mega twist compact kit ( its actually cheaper than buying the atomizer, the tanks and base  )  you get three empty tanks a USB charger and two atomizers with the kit. Its great for testing flavors, just make sure when testing use very little mix in case you dont like it. Then empty the tank and put it back on and just keep hitting it until you taste a burnt flavor. That way you know the atomizer is empty. Then you are ready to try another flavor. Saves you a DT cartormizer in the process. I personally like both the DTC and the Tank cargtride system with the atomizer seperate eGo having the edge due to better flavor and stay away from the XL clearomizers , just my opinion,  I have given up on them.

I have heard of people boiling the cartomizer and then letting it dry, I havent tried it but I am about to.  I will let you know how it turns out.

I agree with you. I prefer the standard ego tanks. I got a torpedo today and to be honest much prefer the ego-c so iv ordered a twist.battery now.

Grab the ego adaptor to use your ego-c cones/atties on the torpedo.  ;)

Your DCT's will be nice on that torpedo too.

I find as long as the flavours you are swapping complement each other it's no big deal just to refill with a different flavour.

it's honestly down to preference but i have switched flavors many times without switching out the cartos.  although the experience may be different for you. as mentioned before, dccs are cheap.  just keep a good amount on hand.
Help wanted.  Need assistant to refill my cartos and charge my batteries must be willing to work for eliquid wages.

I have found it OK to change IF you are using tobacco flavors, but If you are using the fruity flavors I would recommend changing the cart,I like the Tank but I have found it can be expensive having to keep changing them when they get soaked out.

Keep On Vaping On.

When I used the atomizers.. I cleaned them with VODKA.
I rarely drink.. and do say it cleans very well and doesn't
mess much with the new flavor I would use.

Good luck and happy vaping!
