Need to dilute eliquid
« on: November 13, 2011, 01:35:36 PM »
Hi  :)
Can anyone help please? I.m very new to e cigarettes. I bought a Tornado Tank two weeks ago it works brilliantly...the only problem is I ordered 18mg Tobacco flavor and it's too strong, so I ordered 8mg Coffee flavor. I used the 8 mg it for only one day and it burned my tongue  and made my throat very sore. All I really want to do is just simply dilute both...to a much lower nicotine level without it costing me an arm and a leg, what do I need to do achieve this please?

Distilled water will do this i beleave some of the gurus will correct me if i am wrong

but that will diluit the flavor as well if you want to keep the flavor you will need to order 0mg of the flavors you have to reduce them with

hope that helps :)

and welcome to TW

edit:

throat might be to much PG in the mix or might need a VG based juice but i am new to mixing and not the best to comment on the best for you to try with that

Its the PG in the mix that gives the throat hit. Adding a few drops of VG or AG, plus a some flavour concentrate to keep the original flavour strength will calm things down for you ;)

Ah yes, Tiddler is right.
It might not be the nicotine that makes your throat bad.
Could be that you react to PG, that happens to some people.
I would try Tiddlers advice first before making some more radical things like mixing.

Thank you all so much for your help and the welcome :D I love using the Tornado Tank but at the moment I'm just taking one or two short draws every few hours :'(  I'll try what you suggest...you may be right tiddler  about the PG I'll give VG or the AG a try when I've looked up the best one.
When I take a draw it hits the back of my throat like a bullet.
Once again many thanks
Puff

VG can be bought from your local supermarket of pharmacy, but its a bit hit and miss as to its suitability. Plus you will then need to dilute it with distilled water before use anyway :(
To save you all the bother you could always just get the TW ready to use AG ;)  http://www.totallywicked-eliquid.co.uk/products/mixing-accessories/aqueous-glycerine-60ml-product.html

Hi Puff and welcome  :)
If you've only been vaping a couple of weeks you will probably find that the sore mouth will disappear soon, your body is adjusting to changes in what it's used to. You could try a very low nicotine mix to see if that helps; did your Tank kit have a low nic option? In the meantime, use some glycerine from the chemist (make sure it's 99% or more pure) for your sore throat and later, when you want to make your own mixes, it will come in handy.  ;)
Remember to draw slowly and not too hard, it's a little different technique to puffing on an analogue and that will reduce the kick to your throat and help you get the best out of your Tank vaping.
Congrats on a great choice of kit  8)

That had crossed my mind. I have ordered the PG and the AG, am now waiting for it to come, but I was looking at the videos and it was mentioned, that there is some kind of fluid they put in the atti to keep it clean whilst in storage and you should blow and clean it out before vapeing. It didn't say anything about that in the instructions in the package....when I blew the atti out a load of gunk come out and when I refilled the tank I could actually taste the flavor of the coffee  :D my mouths not sore anymore and my tongue has stopped tingling  thank goodness....so it was probably the stuff in the atti that I was over sensitive too. The stuff I've ordered will still come in for mixing my own eliquid.
Now I'm one very happy Vapererrrr   ;D

Glad you have that sorted out, puff, you'll be unlikely to forget to blow out a new atty in future  :o
Primer fluid can taste pretty horrible but now you should enjoy your vape at last  ;D
I think the package instructions are overdue for review on quite a few items, sometimes they aren't very helpful and I believe this is coming under review... but TW has been a little busy lately!
You'll soon find your preferred nicotine strength and have a lot of flavours to try,
have fun  ;D
